@JoshWiniberg It’s good to see the flow, sure (eg for routing to external instruments/rewire), but this is effectively teaching people a slow and cumbersome way to achieve a simple goal, in a software which has been explicitly designed to be ergonomic.

  4. Crowmusicuk says:

@dpdilla Agreed. It kinda makes you lose faith in a group that seems to expect people to pay for their ‘expert’ tuition when they don’t even implement basic things direct from the user manual. RTFM, people! Watch Ableton’s own vids, they’re much better, or better still, learn from a certified Ableton educator (I see no mention of this qualification on Sonic Academy’s website.)

Great, I love your tutorials! I’m learning a lot :) Thanks!

  6. JoshWiniberg says:

@Crowmusicuk That sounds much better :) Nonetheless, since these are tutorials, it’s good to know how the flow works, and there’s no better way to learn than to create the flow manually. Still though, this shortcut should be tought once peope know how it works.

  7. dpdilla says:

Yeah I’m with crow, there are easier ways of doing this like pressing cmd+G to create a group

OR you could just read the manual, select the samples in the browser and drag them whilst holding Command(mac)/AltPC-I think), and all samples will be instantly layered on to the relevant pad. That will be 1 pound please SonicAcademy!

Nice tip on the Multis. I didn’t know that assigning them all to the same trigger would group them together as a Multisample on the DrumRack. Now I know. I really appreciate your time!

Is there any way to increase the release passed 60? I find if I have a 4-6 second loop assigned to a pad, it loses velocity/volume after 2-3 seconds…

do not question the masters at the sonic academy!!!

  13. SonicAcademy says:

hi, this is not an insert, it is an internal return track. an insert would ‘insert’ the effect into the signal chain. this plays the original audio unaffected and allows for ‘sending’ to the return track. hope this helps

  14. Phyle9 says:

    “internal return track”
    LOL
    it’s called an “insert”

    cool video tho
    thx

4:11… you see how when you click the play button on the sample, it only plays for as long as the mouse button is down? how do i set it so that it plays the entire sample when i click it, and not have to hold the mouse button down? ::

Very helpful! I’ve been using drum racks for a while but never knew you could group the internal tracks! Will save a lot of space and allow much more on one rack! thanks guys!
