Sound Design for Film Pt. 3 – Stinger (Clash of the Titans)

Written by Admin on April 25th, 2010

Check out www.nickstutorials.com for more! Part 3 is a short and sweet look at the various layers which go into the stinger at the end of the Medusa scene we went over in Part 2. I go over some inspirations that I had from Ben Burtt and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The video also hits upon a way to enable automation lanes for group tracks.

Wow, i like this idea of using Ableton for sound fx and working with video clips. I always knew you could do stuff with video in Ablleton but this is the first time I’ve seen it in action. Just in time too as I’m going to be working on a bunch of projects this week where I could put this into use.

Thank you for ideas! Gonna go check out the others now.

    By “Stinger,” I meant:

“A stinger or bumper is a short clip of music that can be used to introduce, end or link various sections of an audio or audiovisual production. Sometimes they are also called sounders and can often have voice-over and sound effects incorporated with them.”

That kick drum is an unusual choice. I guess it’s more symbolic of something dangerous than realistically a sound a stinger could make.
