  2. nogre5 says:

you guys helped me in my decision to get the APC40. I don’t need to tell you guys that ya’ll are awesome, but I appreciate good ears and trigger fingers. keep rockin.

  3. toufas says:

hello, what is the soundcard you guys are using?
i am between this and the ni audio2 card or the xone2d

  4. PleasureRyland says:

Thats a Novation Nio. I use the same one. It’s a great audio interface with rca stereo outs as well as quarter inch cable inputs. It also has two headphone inputs. You’ll be hard-pressed to find an interface that small which can do that much. Oh and it also handles phantom power.

Hit the midi map button on the top right hand corner then select the the bpm window. Note that there is a left and right side to the bpm window. The left represents whole numbers while the right represents decimals. If you assign the left side to a knob, the tempo will move very radically. Choose the right side instead. You’ll have to move the knob quite a bit more in order to make huge bpm jumps(like 10 bpm and higher) but for smaller bpm changes it’s ideal. Hope this helps.

Loved this video so much I knicked your mapping scheme. One problem, I can’t figure out how to set the BPM parameters on my new tempo knob… your help is greatly appreciated!

  7. felipescalador says:

of course it will be worth it… by the way this video is 8 months old?? setup change since then?? like max for live maybe?

  8. nedxavier says:

hi mate, just a couple of questions, firstly what soundcard/audio interface do u use to cue up the seperate channels, and secondly how was that djm800 incorporated when u were playing, was the laptop just run through a channel of it or were you using them in tandem somehow. iv got a djm800 and im looking to make the move from cdjs to ableton but i dont want to stop using my djm!!!

  9. trancepwr79 says:

Hey Riley & Durrant. DO you ever impliment the apc40 and djm 800 together other than for using it as a channel out to the sound system? if so… how do you like setting it up in that fashion.

  10. RileyAndDurrantMusic says:

@Jordo54321 Sounds like you’ve made up your mind already :)

  11. RileyAndDurrantMusic says:

@felipescalador Hi mate.. We thought about it, but you only get 10mins max for a video so not sure it’d be worth it..?

  12. felipescalador says:

hey riley & durrant any live show recorded? why dont load them on youtube

  13. SnoozMusic says:

No way? A 1000 box controller that doesn’t work with 64 bit?!

  14. Jordo54321 says:

@SnoozMusic Haha man, I’m so behind on all this, I had no idea ableton is already has an apc20 and launchpad lol.

The VCM-600 is exactly what I needed, but it doesn’t work in 64 bit OS’s, damnit!

  15. SnoozMusic says:

    How about a launchpad? :)

  16. Jordo54321 says:

ARG, I don’t know if I should get an APC40 next so I can finally do some live stuff, or if I should buy an analog mixing board to improve my production quality.

If I buy an APC40 it’s alot of money just to have only for the sole purpose of doing live stuff in ableton :|
But I guess I’d rather be stuck in the digital domain and have an interesting live show, than sitting next to a computer playing clips with a mouse and being incapable of fading in
Then again I could get a live mixixng boar

    master effects.

  18. aodero says:

supatrigga is an au/vst plugin that you can download and drag to a track.

@thayalol Bt – Rose Of Jericho

  20. thayalol says:

What is it playing at 8:32 to 8:43 ?

Something really damn familiar but I can’t remember what is it.

  21. MrDjtubbs says:

Good post. Question about the effects…Do you guys have a button assigned to turn the effects off and on. For example I tried assigned a delay effect, but even with the knob cranked to the off position, I still have a bit of delay. Please clarify thanks. i might just be using the wrong effect.

  22. djshemeck says:

questions regarding MIDI mapping. When I map buttons manually they no longer light up when I press them. Can you tell me how can I map so the button will light up when i press it. THanks

  23. benlinden9 says:

anyone know how to do what they call ‘supertrigger’? thanks

  24. TtimePoi says:

That’s totally strange that you’re limited to 127 to 132 but I don’t mess with house/techno so I guess it makes sense..

  25. robbiejacobs says:

how do you map the global knobs to the bass, delay, filter(s) so that it controls those specific effects for every channel? or do the mappings just correspond to the effects dropped into the master track?
    thanks,
    -rob
