Here, the performance is by artist Harry Coade, putting the Novation Impulse controller keyboard through it’s paces. So, I’m looking for a hardware controller that isn’t very expensive but that you recommend and have used and know that it’s good. I’m planning on making minimal techno (plastikman style). I’m not planning on using it to play live sets, just to use it on a studio.

I use a Roland-GW7 but I would think you could use any controller as long as it has MIDI ports on it. so I would say look at Roland products and Google MIDI controllers or Synthesizers and you will be able to find what fits your budget, hope that helped good luck.
