I just upgraded from ableton live lite 5 to lite 6?

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

Question by djleo: I just upgraded from ableton live lite 5 to lite 6?
What of Live lite 5 can I delete now?
Can I just delete everything to do with 5?
The reason I ask is because, it’s just an “upgrade” so I dont know if I need the old version still to run the new one

Not for nothing dude, I have a version of ableton live either 5 or 6 that came with a program I purchased. Never used it. There is an article in Future Music Magazine(Nov 2006) with an ableton 6
tutorial. Try ableton.com.

By the way, never delete the old program. If you are having a hard time with the new one, at least you can still get funky with the old school program.

Extra lesson: Starting from scratch

As a little treat, I here offer a 40 min video, showing how I would go about when I start working on a new track myself. My tempo, no voice overs, just producing. Enjoy! Not made in studio, just on the go with a laptop.

In this tutorial I will show you how to make the lead synth Afrojack uses in Take Over Control. This is a typical dutch house lead synth that can be made in Ableton Live using Massive. phortysiks.co.uk

Synth movie themes from the vault- Francis Monkman (the long good friday) remix

Always loved this soundtrack, and its not heard very often. Also very hard to find a stereo recording of it. Francis Monkman was a great synth player and composer. This is a cover, but I kept the original sax part (no synth can replace a real sax played by a real sax player!) Took me a long time to sample it and bring it back into the track, but ableton is one powerful tool. Lots of EQing and compression/delays etc. Hope you like it! Juno 6- sequence, bass Ensoniq ESQ1 – sequencer, sawtooth bass Juno G – Elec piano Microkorg-strings Akai s3000 – drums, opening countdown Ableton live 7- recorder /arranger and effects
