What is the best apple mac to get for music and graphics?

Question by : What is the best apple mac to get for music and graphics?
I’m currently using a PC for all my audio production and graphics software. I want to get a mac of some description. Obviously, the most expensive option is the way to go, but in terms of practicality, i was looking at the lower range Imacs. Would the 21.5 -2.5GHz be sufficient to run programs such as Ableton live and Photoshop? Or wouldnt that be enough.
Also, are they upgradeable?

Thanks.

Me, personally, if I could afford it, I would choose the 27″ iMac. The bigger the screen you have the better.

You would be able to multitask easier, being that there’s more space for more open windows.

So you could be running photoshop and Ableton live right next to each other.

If you have a to get budget, I would go for the 21.5 inch. Still a big screen, and still easy to use

If you want portability, I would get the 15 or 17 inch MacBook pro or 13 inch air.

What’s the difference between all the different music software?

Friday, March 16th, 2012

Question by J: What’s the difference between all the different music software?
I want to buy and learn a music program like Max/Msp or Reaktor, but I’ve read about so many. There’s Max, Ableton Quartz, Reaktor, Traktor and so on. Could someone please explain the difference between all of these? What is each meant for? I really just want a flexible program where I can create any idea I have. Also, if you have an opinion as to which one is best, please share. Thanks

The learning curve on Reaktor is steep. If you are looking to do basic compositions via pc and or midi, try http://www.propellerheads.se/ Reason product. it is as simple as it gets.
